Coco/Lauryl Amido Propyl Betaine (CAPB)
Coco/Lauryl Amido Propyl Betaine (CAPB)
SRS-A-333 is an amphoteric surfactant which act as cationic at below neutral pH. SRS-A-333 has high water solubility and stable over wide pH range and posses high degree of tolerance to hard water. SRS-A-333 is mild non-irritating product when contact with eye and skin and exhibit good hair conditioning properties. SRS-A-333 is completely biodegradable, possesses excellent lime soap dispersent property and is compatible with cationic, anionic and non-ionic surfactant with mild germicide properties. These properties made them possible to be used in the preparation of shampoos and hair care formulation. Addition of SRS-A-333 at 3 to 5% levels contributes significant increase in the viscosity of the shampoos and helps in conditioning hair.
Building up of very high viscosities is quite possible when SRS-A-333 is added with the commonly used anionic surfactants. As this amphoteric surfactant itself has good foaming ability, primary anionic surfactant levels in the shampoos can be reduced. In personnel care products like shampoos, usage levels of upto 50% of the total surfactant concentration is common, to impart good hair conditioning effect and to build high viscosities. SRS-A-333 finds uses as textile softeners and in detergent formulations and baby shampoos.
